Originally from Boise Idaho; Bill grew up in an education family. His Mother Betty as his Kindergarten Teacher and his Father Richard (Doc) for college Physics. Bill studied Engineering at Boise State University, graduating from University of Idaho in 1996 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Bill then continued his education at Purdue University completing his Master’s in 1998 via a joint Industrial/Aeronautical Engineering program through the National Science Foundation.
Two (2) years in the “flat, boring, hot & amp; humid mid-west” was enough and Bill jumped at the chance to to work for Black Diamond Equipment nestled at the foot of the mountains in Salt Lake City, Utah building the best climbing and back-country ski equipment in the world. Inspired by the variety of manufacturing processes within the brand and the “can’t fail attitude” of the climbing community Bill enjoyed 7 years in Utah before being selected in 2005 to relocate to the Zhuhai Free Trade Zone China and establish Black Diamond’s own Asia based manufacturing and quality control operations.
In 2007, with the economy downturn looming and not wanting to return to the USA quite yet, Bill sold his home, broke up with a girlfriend and gave away his dog (the hardest part of moving to China) to establish a new company and help other Outdoor Brands with product development in Asia – Weiguo Solutions was born. Working with friends with the ability to choose from cool Clientele, Weiguo quickly grew the trusted team to dozens of colleagues working with 25 global brands with shipments to 40+ countries.
